Omar Abdullah

This post is going to be about Omar Abdullah, and that is why there isnt another fancy title for this post other than his name because he's all I will be talking about here today.

The reason I chose to discuss Omar is that it appears fanatics have succeeded in silencing him by making him quit blogging (his blog). I will try to explain why this is a defeat for all Kashmiris who looked upto him for inspiration. Therefore I will devote todays post to discussing Omar, even though there are more pressing issues at hand to be writing about today such as the blockade by Jammu fanatics or the determined effort by Kashmiris to breach the Indian Army check post between our Valley and our sister-town of Muzaffarabad in AJK. I will definitely be writing about these issues tomorrow so please check back.

Omar would be justified in getting frustrated by the endless barrage of non-sensical comments that arrive daily. I can tell from personal experience. My blog cannot compare with the high-profile blog of Omar, and yet I recieve nasty comments almost daily which I dont even think about twice after they have been deleted. Just a few moments ago I deleted an obscene remark from the Kashmir Forum.

I will be honest enough to confess that even though I have been following Omar's career for the past decade, up until recently, I was convinced that he is just another opportunistic Indian politician; in there because he was unable to find other gainful employment. And in India, politics is the easiest 'get rich quickly' plan one could think of. What changed my perception of Omar was his blog, (and later on his interviews and speeches). But out of all, his blog left a lasting impression because I believe that the way one writes speaks volumes about a person and is a reflection of the person's character and convictions.

Leaders are there to inspire their followers by their actions and deeds. If Kashmiris were to follow Omar's actions, should we all just give up because the bullies keep harassing us? I am unable to point to another contemporary leader in Kashmir who would match Omar's calibre. Omar is a thorough gentleman. I am not a sychophant or someone seeking a mandate! Heck no one even knows my real identity because I go by the name 'Koshur'. It sounds like a cliche now, but Kashmiris have always been subdued by their rulers to suppress their voices and the reason why I mention this now is that the same forces have succeeded in silencing Omar. Omar's blog gave a real chance for Kashmiris to interact with their leader which otherwise would be almost impossible. I am also not exaggerating when I say that the wealth of information through his posts and from comments from his readers is unmatched.

It is therefore with sadness that I accept the fact that Omar will not be blogging anymore.

  2. Though I don't agree with the policy of Omar Abdullah, but I still think, God willing, he may change his mind in future and support freedom struggle of Kashmir. He and his father yet again has been betrayed by the people of Jammu. He can be an asset to further the cause of Indpendence at the Indian and internaitonal level, the cause for which his father was a founding member, once upon a time.

  3. Yes i always thought that Omar was a changing face of Kashmir politics who could revolutionize the Kashmir struggle for which his grandfather spent his life. Omar unfortunately turned out like a next door opportunistic politician.

Kshmiri leaders like Omar need to come forward to save Kashmir from the clutches of separatists.Kashmir is being destroyed.People should understand the evil motives of Pakistan. They are spreading evil all over the world. Our lives, our economy, our children's future is plunging into the darkness. We are becoming morally corrupt.Use of drugs and prostitution is at peak in the state which was once called "Peer war". 7. i happened to be in jammu during assembly elections and was surprised to know the views of people for a candidate who deserved to win for his hard work and honesty during hs tenure as the head of MCJ that he was too honest to be in politics. If that is intention ofhe people how do you expect the country to progress. Will corrupts always be in fore front ?Every politician annonces that they want honest and good people in politics. May i know what exactly did they mean by the terms good and honest? unfortunately he lost......lost because of his clean image! This clearly proves that the system will never change.

  8. Lots of hopes from the new government in J&K.Lets see how omar tackles the inequality problem of all the three provinces in the state. The day jammu and laddakh come at par with kashmir, i think more than half the battle is won.Power cuts, inseurity of life, job opportunities to the educated youth, self employment to the people who have limited sources for higher educatoin, women empowerment and social justice are main fields that need to be handled cautiously. Omar will have to induct honest and clean people in his government to give good governance to the people of his state who expect a lot out of this present coalition government.God Bless J&K

  10. this must be the utmost shameful act in the history of world because of the puppet CM(omar abdullah) who doesnot belong to our kashmir as is evident by his indifferent attitude who wants to retain the chair at the expense of our sacred blood. He should have resigned at least .I feel sorry for him.I pray to God that such inhuman people should recieve the appropriate reward.I must tell you that nobody is happy with you.

  11. Cowards .how can u post my comment but convey it to your puppet CM omar that he is dead. Two women are raped and brutally killed and only your CM is convinced that they actually drowned. He should have resigned at least.

Omar would resign if he had a conscience. But as we know, puppets never do.
